The revised student portal at California State University, Fullerton (csuf portal) now includes new features.

  • More than a month has passed since Titan Online’s user interface was updated, and students are becoming used to the new design of the campus-wide platform csuf portal.
  • The new layout includes various widgets that allow students to choose what they see when they log in, such as options to examine any academic holds, campus news, or even parking availability, among other csuf portal things.
  • There is also a new night mode that can be activated. Titan Online’s new design emphasises accessibility while csuf portal also allowing for greater flexibility of exposure, with the goal of improving the user experience for mobile users.
  • In the words of Rommel Hidalgo, associate vice president for the division of information technology, “the new portal user experience is mobile friendly and very adaptable from a user standpoint.” Students, professors, and staff are encouraged to utilise the portal more frequently as a result of the increase in mobile responsiveness. They will know that their mobile devices may access the full functionality of the campus portal at any time, from any location.
  • Some students were initially dissatisfied with the new portal interface when it was first introduced, but as time went on, they became more accustomed to it and eventually accepted it.
  • Initially, for Hailey Hathaway, a fifth-year civil engineering major, re-learning the new user interface took a lot of time and effort on her part.
  • In the end, it took Hathaway a long time to figure it out and to break the habits he’d developed through four years of going through the same thing over and over again. “However, after I got the hang of it, it went rather quickly.”
  • As for Bianca Cervantes, a fifth-year physics major who said she learned the new interface in a single afternoon, she said she was pleasantly surprised. Of all the new features in this update, she said her favourite improvements were the personalization options, which she said make browsing the site much easier than it was previously.
  • The facility features, which Cervantes need, may be accessed immediately rather than having to navigate through seven distinct tabs, as is the case at the moment. “The portal’s flexibility to be customised is a significant advantage. “Right now, it’s my favourite section.”
  • This current upgrade, according to Hidalgo, is part of the Information Technology Department’s effort to update the platform every two years, despite the fact that the COVID-19 epidemic had caused this planned change to be slightly delayed.
  • Prior to its public release on Oct. 4, the new platform was made available for beta testing, during which the department received comments and made any necessary changes before making it available to the general public csuf portal.
  • When asked how long the new user interface had been in development, Hidalgo responded that it had been several months before it became ready for beta testing csuf portal.
  • The department announced the change through email on September 21, stating that Titan Online would be unavailable for a brief period of time in order to implement the new layout in the following days. Titan Online, which comprised services such as class searching and degree auditing, was unavailable from October 1 to October 4, according to the university csuf portal.
  • In his statement, Hidalgo stated that the upgrade had a few flaws when it first launched, one of which was that students were unable to locate the Student Center option because it had been rebranded as Student Homepage. This was immediately resolved by changing the link Student Homepage (Student Center). This was merely one occasion in which users became disoriented by the new layout, a sentiment that was mirrored by students at the time of the redesign’s rollout csuf portal.
  • The most prevalent complaints Hathaway heard from her friends and peers when it came to registering for classes brought back fond memories of her own. Because the registration system had also been updated, people who were not familiar with the new layout were left to fumble around in the midst of it.
  • “Taking a look at their calendars and choosing their class schedules was the most time-consuming part.” This is what I’ve heard was the most difficult part: attempting to locate things,” Hathaway explained. “Everyone was having difficulty trying to find stuff,” says the author.
  • According to Cervantes, accessing the new webpage was a matter of trial and error, as she explained that she needed to experiment with the platform in order to find out which new buttons brought her to the locations she needed to visit. She admitted that this had given her some difficulties.
  • While students have provided comments on the platform’s launch, the IT department has been hard at work gathering feedback and making improvements to the platform going forward.
  • According to Hidalgo, “when we receive additional feedback from our students, teachers, and staff, we will continue to alter and improve the portal and other tools.” A year or two from now, we’ll very certainly be planning another redesign of the portal’s visual appearance.
  • Hathaway expressed her admiration for the sleek overall aesthetic of the vehicle, however she believes that the change was not essential.
  • “I personally don’t believe it was in need of an update. “I believe that now that it has, it has provided greater potential, but I didn’t believe it was broken to begin with,” Hathaway remarked of the situation. “There are some new things here that are offering youngsters options and things like that, but I don’t think it was in any way dire,” says the author.
  • It is anticipated that the IT Department will keep updating the portal over the next year or two, up until the creation of the next major update is completed.
